UEFA Champions League Group A First Leg

Real Madrid v Paris St GermainBuy tickets here for Real Madrid v Paris St Germain, and watch the Madrid stars take on the French champions. Real Madrid’s first home match of their UEFA Champions campaign was a 4-0 vict0ry over Shakhtar, including a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick. But although the Bernabeu roared and Benitez got his all-important first points in the European Trophy, it was not plain sailing, including a glaring goalkeeping error, a soft sending-off in Madrid’s favour, and a dubious penalty. All in all it may have been one of the easiest of Ronaldo’s long list of hat-tricks in Madrid shirt.  That night in September, Shakhtar’s impressive swift turning and movement of the ball had looked a real threat to the home team until Benzema opened the score with a tap-in that was a gift from keeper Pyatov.

Real-Madrid-PSG

Di Maria PSG

Laurent Blanc’s PSG side started their UEFA Champions campaign efficiently, defeating Malmo 2-0 at Parc des Princes. Former Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria was on the score sheet alongside Cavani, with David Luiz missing a penalty. PSG star Ibrahimovitch was strangely subdued, maybe because he was playing his old club Malmo from Stockholm, but will be very much up for showing that he is far from finished in the Bernabeu against Real Madrid, a team he would love to score goals against. PSG were also fortunate to have a goal from Malmo ruled out that night when Rosenberg was deemed to have fouled Silva.

Our verdict: Real Madrid have the benefit of massive European credentials, playing at home, and their experience and pace should make them winners over the French champions by one or two goals.
